Hi all,

Due to the minimal response I have received to my call for everyone to share their information with the list, how about we try something else?

Why don't we all post to the list, the resources we have at home. It could be books, CD Indexes, microfiche - ANYTHING that is relevant and that you are willing to use to help others.

Remember, if you help someone else, they are more likely to try and do something for you!!!

An example: I have only been researching since April this year, and began by thinking that Captain William Langdon was my great great grandfather.

Within 2 days of seriously researching, I realised this was not the case, and that the 300+ pages on info I had collected on him over the years was totally useless to me.....but i kept it anyway!!!

However, I found a gentleman in Canada who was wanting info on Captain William and so I photocopied the whole lot and mailed it over to him. I was not expecting anything in return - just hoped that the gods would look down on me and let me find someone who would be researching the same family as me...............

Anyway, he was so grateful that he sent me a copy of the Australian Vital Records Index on CD, as a thankyou gift!!!!! I did not ask for payment in any way what so ever, but he wanted to show his appreciation.

Now I am not saying that we all go out buying each other indexes, but if we can share resources - you do a look up for me and I do a look up for you.......then we could all learn more and get further in our research.

Currently I do not have much in the way of resources, but after the wedding in December I will be slowly increasing the list!!!!!

So far I have:

Tasmanian Pioneers Index
Australian Vital Records Index
(access to) British Vital Records Index

Come on guys - please follow my lead with this one.
