Subject: [BUTLER-L] Nunnehi's Butlers -- from Nunnehi
Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 09:53:23 EDT
I have no idea where the Butlers are from originally, just that I find them
with my family in the 1700s, specifically 1715, in Richmond County and
Westmoreland County -- Virginia. I know Caleb has a home in Westmoreland as my
7th G-GF died there. I am assuming that Richard, James, Rebecca and Peter
(Richard & James parents) live in Richmond County or nearby. James Butler died
in 1716, a year after he took two of the orphans and then Richard took them
along with the four he already had and raised them. Richard died in 1735 in
King George County, VA (formerly Richmond Co) and my 5thG-GF - Benjamin
Hawkins - was the executor of his will.
The land they lived on in Richmond County was part of the original patent John
Washington, the GGF of George Washington.
I wish I knew more, but was hoping Caleb Butler would be the key to
unwinding this since his daughter - Jane married a rather famous man's
father - Augustine Washington, father of George.
Again thanks for any help. Personal Replies to
