I am seeking the origin and ancestors of my paternal 2nd
great-grandparents: John Johnson BUTLER (1799/1820 - 9/19/1868) and
Sarah Rebecca WEBB (1818 - 1887). I don't know where JJB was born, who
his parents were, or when or where he married Sarah. They probably
married sometime between 1834-1839. JJB was a farmer who died near
Farmerville, in Union Parish, La. on 9/19/1868, and I have a copy of his
succession. Both JJB & SRWB are buried in Union Parish, La.

Sarah Rebecca (WEBB) BUTLER indicated on the Union Parish 1870 Census
that she was 52 (so she was born about 1818), and that she was born
somewhere in Georgia. I don't know who her parents were, either.

Many other branches of my paternal ancestors came to La. from Georgia
[CARR, CHAMBLESS, EDWARDS, ENGLISH, HARRISON, JONES, NEAL, SPINKS] so
there's a possibility that JJB was also from Georgia. Another
researcher told me that many of the original Anglo settlers of Union
Parish, La. were from Alabama, so that is also a possible origin of
JJB. Several family researchers have searched for the ancestors and
origins of this couple in vain for over 20 years. I started my search
in 1996. I would love to hear from anyone who might know something
about this La. branch of the BUTLER family.

This couple had at least 10 children. I am a descendant of their son,
John Johnson Butler II:
