The first natural question would be whether you found a Jane, Joan, Joyce,
June, Janette, etc. Butler as a three year old in the census records that
you checked? In my research I have frequenmtly found children listed by
names other than those they chose to be known by as adults usually, these
were middle names or nicknames.
