Sorry, I can't help you with Judith, but I wanted to let you know that I have a reference to a Pierce Butler living in Frederick County, Virginia in 1750 along with several other Butler's who may or may not have been related. It was suggested that he was from a Tennessee family of Butlers. I don't have any info on him other than that. I don't even know if I'm related. Thomas Butler, my ancestor, did come from Ireland and shows up in Frederick County, Virginia in 1746 but that's all I've found about him at this point.

I've found references to a family of Butlers from England who came over to America in the 1700's (a General Benjamin Butler keeps popping up every time I do a search for the Benjamin Butler I'm related to). So, the Pierce Butler from the Revolutionary War period could have come from either family.

Sorry to complicate things for you *g*. Good luck, anyway.

Robin
