I am not sure about the twins' theory. The census taker lists James Cannon and Mary Cannon Butler as both age 27, but it could have been a clerical mistake. I agree that James Cannon/Mary Butler/ and the husband of Anna Cannon were siblings. I have checked the Jefferson County census that was extracted by the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, and I have found several Butler's, but none of them seem to be a match. I found one with the name James, but he was not the correct age and one Butler living in the household of or very near a brick maker. Since James Butler and James Cannon were both brick masons, I took that as a possibility, but I don't know other names in which to make a connection. I will list them for you, so you can add to Rootsweb.
I appreciate your guidance and help. Thanks again.
