Hi...thank you for the communique re Byrnes of Co.Louth. No, I do not know the town from whence they came. I have determined that they were most likely unable to read or write since documents I've seen are marked with an X for a signature so the spelling could be in question. What I do have is: Patrick Byrnes is my gr,gr, grandfather and is buried with my gr, gr, grandmother in Kickapoo, IL. The dates given are birthdate/his 6-24-1798 and hers 6-15-1805 or 1811 and corresponding dates of death, his 4-21-1865, hers 5-31-1896.
Some of my rels believe her last name was Murray..no proof. They immigrated approx 1846 thru Baltimore, settling in Peoria Co., IL, in 1848. They came with 7 children, all born in IR, had another child in Maryland (?) and another in Illinois.
I know I have a listing somewhere in my (many) files about the county of Ardee, which you mentioned, but it may be about another of my lines.....which included Harmon, Scanlan, Mykins, Noonen, McDermott, McCarty, Boyle, Doran and numerous others.....all of Ireland. Will keep your wonderful message and do some more research as time allows. Thank you.
