Dear Ron,
My friend, Merle Coughlin's, paternal grandfather immigrated to Barre,
Vermont about 1890. He came from Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. Daniel Coughlin
joined his brother, Michael Couglin, who had immigrated earlier. Michael was
killed in a granite quarry accident in the Barre, Vermont area. After that
Daniel moved to Monpelier and worked as a tombstone cutter.
I would be interested to know if you know, what port the Irish likely
came to when they were heading to the granite quarries in Vermont.
Hope this info helps. Take care, Margaret O'Neill
