DAR, have to submit an entire lineage (proven [or pay them to have it
proven? but maybe they don't do that]) to prove one of your ancestors
fought in the Am. Revolution.

UDC, same as above, but in the Civil War on Confederate side.

I don't know about the Texas ones (though I live here).

Mayflower Society - same as above, proven lineage back to one of the
Mayflower passengers (there's a website for those
http://www.mayflower.org/state_so.html for list of state ones you can join,
from your state, and the national one,
http://www.mayflower.org/index.html

Huguenot Society - prob same as above, proven lineage back to one of the
original Huguenots who came here from France. (I have Vincent RONGNION, who
is listed in various sources as a principal one back then, via the SUTTONs
- his daughter married one of my SUTTONS.) But I haven't joined.
I guess I'm not much of a joiner.

Seems like a lot of trouble to me. . . then they'd just expect you to come
to meetings, wave the flag, and sit on hard cold metal folding chairs for 2
hours while a Grande Dame holds forth. . . sorry, couldn't resist!
