Dear Judy:
Apropos the question of software - if price is any consideration at all,
Personal Ancestral File, which is available from the LDS church in Salt Lake
City, costs only $15.00 plus an additional ten (so they tell me) for a recent
add-on - I have'nt bought it yet. I have used it for several years, through
two upgrades, and it works fine and is
fairly easy to use. It doesn't scan in pictures or maps, however. It does
allow for multiple sourcing and for extensive notes associated with individual
events in a person's live (birth, death, marriage, will, etc.), rather than
running all the notes and sources together. GEDCOM compatible (the LDS set
the standard), prints lots of reports. Has a $60.00 supplemental program
(from another source) that will almost write the book for you when you get
ready to take that step.
Hope this helps.
