JOHN W.H. DAVIS, a private at the United States army post at Ft.
Yellowstone, was frozen to death while carrying the mail.

JAMES GRINER, a former member of the Pennsylvania Legislature killed his
step daughter as the result of a quarrell over money matters.

CHARLES ZANOLI, tried in New York for defrauding an insurance comapany,
admitted that since 1883 he had collected insurance on four wives, a
mother-in-law, a daughter, and an employee.

EDWARD J.EPSTEIN committed suicide in New York. His letter to the police
was a sad story of the difficulties of an educated man trying to find
employment in the big metropolis.

The will of the late CHARLES FLEISCHMAN, of Cincinnati, after several
charitable bequests, directs that his estate which is valued at
$2,000,000 be devided equally among his wife and four children.

Mrs. D.C. HUFFMAN, wife of a Big Four Railroad emplyee, at Brightwood
Indiana, attempted to commit suicide by swallowing carbolic acid. A few
weeks ago her daughter, ETTA HUFFMAN, succeeded in killing herself by
the use of the same acid. The daughter"s lover, a young man named
PHILLIPS, had shot himself to death, and this was assigned as the reason
for the girl"s act. It is supposed that grief over the tragic death of
the daughter caused Mrs. HUFFMAN to take her own life.

A terrible tragedy occurred at Fiddletown, Texas, FRED BARTH SR. a
prosperous German farmer, without warning, took his shotgun and placing
it at the back of his wife fired a full load of shot into her. Then he
attempted to cut his daughter"s throat with a razor. When help arrived
they found that the old man had cut the throat of his wife and had also
cut both of his arms at the wrist. He was bleeding to death when
neighbors arrived. BARTH was arrested. He is apparently insane, but will
assign no cause for the deed.

An old Indian mound has been opened on the farm of HARRISON ROBINSON,
four miles East of Jackson, Ohio, and two skeletons of extrodinary size
and a great quanity of trinkets have been removed. Some years ago a
party of relic hunters, supposed to have been sent out in the interest
of the Archeological society visited the ROBINSON farm , and after a few
days search removed a great collection of stone hatchets, beads and
bracelets, which were packed and shipped to an Eastern institute, and
until this recent accidental discovery it was supposed that everything
had been removed by the relic hunters. It is thought by many that more
relics are to be found and preparations are being made for a through
investigation.
