Hello Barrie
Thanks for that - I knew some of it - but the absence of any appearence in
Merthyr in 1871 is a bonus.
My problem is the pre-1881 history - I have a reasonable picture after then
with Jonathan moving to Celynen, Mons. - except I do not know when Elizabeth
died.
Because John Breeze is dead by 1881 I don't know his age or where he was
born. Because his son, Jonathan, was born in 1865 in Tredegar, I'm hoping
that the family were in Tredegar in 1861 and/or 1871 and I can (eventually)
track them down on the census. Hopefully this might show other siblings for
Jonathan which will give some clue as to when John and Elizabeth married.
There is a family story that says John died when Jonathan was 7 - around
1872.
I guess that there must have been Tin Plate works in or near Tredegar in the
1860's/1870's for John to have been a Tin Plate Roller(?). Perhaps another
at Dowlais to explain the move there?
Mark
