WHITSETT NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Clapp of Greenville, S. C., were here this week
seeking facts connected with
their family history. They are connected with the early settlers of the
Clapp family in this section,
George Valentine and John Ludwig Clapp who settled at Brick church in
the year 1745.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rich spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Moser, in
Brick church neighborhood.

MRS. INGLE DIES AT GLEN RAVEN
Mrs. D. R. Ingle, age 75 years, died at her home at Glen Raven Thursday
morning at 9 o'clock, following two weeks of illness.
She had been a member of Mount Hope church since she was 14 years old.
The funeral service will be held at Brick church, Guilford county,
Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. H. A. Welker in charge, and
burial will be made in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Esther Lee Moore,
of Greensboro.

William A. Foster aged 78 years Died Last Night
William A. Foster, aged 78 years, died last night at 9:15 o'clock at his
home on Route 1, Whitsett, near Brick Church, following a lengthy
illness a month of which he was critically ill. He was born in Chatham
County, but had spent practically all his life in this section.
He was a loyal member of Brick church and the funeral service will be
held there Thursday noon by Rev. W. C. L----- of Greensboro with
interment following in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife and two sons C. W. (?Sansbury) and J. A.
Foster, Route 1, Whitsett and by a brother John Foster, Greensboro.

Grandmother of Mrs. J. E. Garrett Died Friday
Mrs. W. P. Isley, grandmother of Mrs. J. E. Garrett of this place, died
last Friday, April 18, at her home at Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was
born February 5, 1852, the daughter of the late Jerry and P---- Clapp,
of the Brick church neighborhood near Burlington.
She was married to William Preston Isley in 1867 and moved to Holt, Mo.
in 1870. She is survived by one brother, George Clapp, of Council Grove,
Kansas; one son. S. J. Isley, of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and was the
mother of the late Mrs. Jesse Tickle, who is survived by four children,
grandchildren of Mrs. Isley: Mrs. J. E. Garrett, of Burlington; Miss
Grace Tickle, of Jacksonville, Ill., Homer Tickle, of Birmingham. Ala.,
and Richard Tickle, Minneapolis, Minn.: and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Holt, Mo. last Sunday.
