Hi Mike,

The Abode of Love or 'agapemone' as it is sometimes known is in Spaxton,
next to the pub (can't remember what it's called). The house was built in
1849 by Henry James Prince. Henry Prince was a clergyman at Charlinch and
broke away from the C of E (I think he was probably kicked out) and started
his own 'relgious movement'. This was actually a harem! Henry Prince died
in 1899. Several books have been written, but they are very hard to come
by. I do not have the true story, but I do have a copy of "THE ABODE OF
LOVE" by Aubrey Menen, published by Chatto and Windus in 1957. This is a
fictional story based on the life of Henry Prince. You may be able to get
info through your library, they will order books held in other libraries for
a nominal sum. I would think that Bridgwater library may have some details
on Henry Prince. Hope this helps.

Regards
