Some scenes from "Awakening" were also filmed on City Island (remember the
water scene?). I believe the doctor who wrote the story, lives here on the
island.
Some other movies filmed on City Island were (off the top of my head, there
were probably more that I'll remember later):
"Butterfield 8", starring Elizabeth Taylor; she won an Oscar for this one.
"Long Day's Journey into Night" (O'Neill), starring Katherine Hepburn and
Jason Robards.
"Arsenic and Old Lace " with Fred Gwynne and Lillian Gish (made for TV).
"A Bronx Tale" with R. DeNiro; just the bus ride (#12) to the island. A lot
was filmed in Fordham and I believe, the Morris Park/Pelham Bay area.
"Love is the Answer" with Paul Sorvino, Lainie Kazan, Rene Taylor, Dick Van
Patten and various extra's from C.I. This movie was short lived in the movie
houses when it finally was released, but it was a pretty good comedy.
The most recent one, that was filmed here several weeks ago, stars Jennifer
Aniston. As yet, I don't know the title; maybe someone can fill me in on that.
I don't know if this counts because it was a TV series. Does anyone remember
"Car 54, Where are you?" (Tootie and Muldoon). Anyway, the outdoor shots were
mostly filmed on C.I. I know that I'm dating myself, but at my age who
cares!.
