Gas prices were a hot topic here a while ago. Now you can check various

We have all heard the warnings to 'Stand clear of the closing doors'
on the subways... now we know why! One conductor decided to take
enforcement into his own hands by punching one man who became stuck in the
doors.

Mike, thanks for the Times piece on the death certificates database.
It does look like the city will be cleaning up that mess for a while.

Speaking of articles... and messes to be cleaned, the Daily News has a
section on Best Beaches in the LifeLine section tomorrow. Orchard is
listed as "Best Beach We All Know About."

Regarding the fireworks... the Bronx Boro President is angry that there is
no site the public can see the display from. Queens has two sites near
the water, Manhattan three, Brooklyn has two and one on Staten Island.
