Subject: Fire in Mt Eden, Woodlawn, etc...
Date: 17 Jul 2000 21:16:45 -0000
Hi all,
A three alarm fire destroyed a row of stores in the Mount Eden area this
morning, and now fire officials are looking for the cause as it grew
quickly, raising questions about how it started. Firefighters think it
began in a supermarket and spread to four other stores, gutting all of the
businesses. 'We decided it may be a suspicious fire pretty quickly due to
the amount of fire and smoke on arrival,' said Chief Burns. [What a name
for a fire department employee.]
The fire was out within 3 hours and three firefighters suffered minor
injuries. A nearby church also suffered water damage.
'Step in, stand clear of the closing doors' says that voice that may sound
familiar, but you just can't place it. It's Charlie Pellett from
Newsradio 1130. He and other staffers from the station have recorded a
number of announcements for the new subway cars the MTA is currently
testing.
Who might be running for mayor next year, with Rudy at the end of his term
limit? Here's a tip -- the web site bloombergformayor.com has just been
registered.

There really is no street address -- they never applied for one. Mail
should be addressed with the intersection close to their administrative
office: Webster Ave & E 233rd Street. It is easy to find, it's just west
of the Bronx River Parkway and just east of the Major Deegan. Their phone
numbers are: 718-920-0500 or 914-237-0925.
