In the headlines this morning -- two scandals right here in the Bronx...

State and city investigators have court orders to obtain five years worth of records and contracts from Co-op City management, following a Co-op City newspaper investigation of improper selection of contractors. Improper spending could be in the tens -- or possibly hundreds -- of millions of dollars.

A city fire inspector was charged with extortion, accused of taking bribes. The authorities said the inspector demanded and received $500 to overlook fire code violations at 1062 Walton Avenue in the Bronx.
