Dear Linda,
The definition of "Sevice of heirs" was dealt with on this list in 2001,
check the Archives for this list under this heading. You can accessthese
thru the info e-mailing sent you when you subscribed. Or you can go to
www.rootsweb.com and look in the index for the Buteshire-L, click on
this and look for Archives, Buteshire, years 2001, 2000 just in case.
Another resource is the 'Old-English-L', under 'Miscellaneous' also
through Rootsweb, which deals with archaic words and also, colonial, USA
wording in wills, etc., probably not too dissimilar to Australian
English of the late 1700's. You can subscribe in the same way as to the
Buteshire-L. The volume of postings is not heavy or overwhelming and it
is very helpful when trying to read old wills and letters.
