Yvonne, I have a book about the prominent Cornish people of Grass
Valley. Some of the family names are on a mining claim notice with
my GGGrandfather James Gluyas Bonds. Also, the name Gluyas is on the
mining claim notice. I was told the name Bonds is not Cornish but I
believe the name Gluyas is. It is an interesting book. If you want
the exact title and author I will look for it. Did your family make
pasties, we still do. If you put a turpin in them the Cornish said
you put a Swede in them. On my Father side they are Cornish and
Welsh. The name Jenkins is Welsh and they were coal miner near
Cardiff that first settled in Penn. coal mining area of Pottsville.
Latter came to California to get away from Mollie's and set up a
undershot water wheel on Merced river near Yosemite for John Hite. Go
ahead and post it. Bill
