In CADI 1905 - 1929, there were 57 entries for Alex, Alec, or Alexander
McDonald and MacDonald. Here are the ones dying in 1913:

A.R. MacDonald, age 66, date of death 2/16/1913, Humboldt County, State File
4742
Alexande( ) McDonald, age 73, date of death 6/23/1913, Napa County, State
File illegible on my copy.
Alexemde( ) C. McDonald, age 41, date of death 12/15/1913, Riverside County,
State File illegible.

Given a birthdate of 1831 and San Francisco as the possible location of
death, the closest entries I found were:

Alexande( ) McDonald, age 87, date of death 2/25/1916, San Francisco County,
State File illegible.
Alexande( ) H. MacDonald, age 89, spouse NR (or HR), date of death 9/5/1919,
San Francisco County, State File 36109
