William H. Parsley and Penelope A. Shingleton were married in 1857 in Jefferson Co., KS but show up in the 1860 census in Solano Co., CA Vacaville Twp. listed as W. H. Parsley, and P. A. Parsley, both born in KY. They have a daughter listed as M. M. Parsley, born in CA. William is listed as a farmer.

In 1870 Penelope Parsley is living next to her brother in Jackson Co., KS without a husband, and with another daughter Margaret, born in CA about 1861/62, and with a son James Parsley born about Jan of 1866 in KS.

I assume that William must have died in 1865, probably after May of 1865 since James was born in Jan of 1866, and that Penelope probably returned to KS to seek out assistance from her family. I suppose it is possible that he moved back to KS but my suspicion is that he died there in CA

I am wondering if there were any death records in CA to check in the 1865 period that may list William Parsley. Thank you very much.
