~OBITUARIES~
CARAKER, William A. "Bill" - Graveside services will be held Tuesday,
September 20, 1988 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park for William A. "Bill"
Caraker who passed away on September 15, 19988 in a local Bakersfield Hospital.
Pastor J. T. Reed of the Central Baptist Church will officiate. Bill was born
in Illinois on September 5, 1911. Bill met and wed his wife of 49 years,
Thelma Gillum, in 1939. After serving in the U.S. Army as Sargeant from
1944-1946, Bill and Thelma moved to Bakersfield where they have since resided. Bill
worked as a truck driver until his retirement in 1973 for Hartmans (Bakersfield
Ready Mix). Upon retirement Bill and Thelma set out to enjoy their lives to
the fullest with their Silver Streak, Boat and fishing Rods and a host of
their numerous friends they enjoyed traveling with. They have traveled all over
the United States and have made so many precious friends along the way. So
many, it would be impossible to list them all. We just know he will be sorely
missed by all. Besides a host of friends, Bill leaves behind his loving wife
of 49 years, Thelma Gillum Caraker. Other family members include;
Sister-in-law Vernie and Joe Koegler; sister-in-law Jessie Sheets and Brother-in-law, Jim
Ridenour all of Bakersfield; Sister, Emma Roberts of Phoenix, Arizona.
Nephews and nieces: Tommy, Kandy, Ryan, Wesley and Sean Sheets; Billy Joe, Laura,
Shannon and Shelly Sheets; Lesley Lynn and Jim Horton; Jannie and Jack
Meystedt; Jayme and Jimmy Brown. Bill was one of the most kind and loving men you
could ever encounter. He was always there for everyone, lending a helping hand
to whoever needed it. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be Sunday
and Monday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. In Loving Memory -
