Thomas M. HODGSON was born in Stockton, Dec 18 1872, the son of W. T. and
Hetty (STANAWAY) HODGSON. W. T. was a native of England who came to CA in
1852. His mother was a daughter of J. C. STANAWAY of Milton CA who lived to
be 101 years old. She was born under the British flag on the high seas
enroute from Australia to CA in the early 50's. She died at the age of
thirty leaving four children: Alice (Mrs. J.B. ASHWORTH), Thomas M., Eunice
died at 14, and Melvin who died at one year.

Thomas was placed in the Sacramento Orphan's Home ar age five and then at
age 7 he was adopted by Peter FINK of Kings River, who so cruelly treated
him that at the age of 9 he ran away, ending up in Fresno.

from 1880 census-seems to disprove some of this information since Thomas is
6 and his mother and father are still alive. Also, Henryeta is shown to have
been born in WI, not on the high seas.. interesting

Thomas went to Reno, NV after 5 years in Fresno, and in 1897 he returned
to CA.

On September 25, 1902 in Watsonville CA he married Miss Annie HILL, native
of Mariposa county, daughter of E. V. HILL and Jane (QUICK) HILL, both
natives of CA.

Mr. and Mrs. HODGSON are the parents of Mabel; Hetty (Mrs. E. M. CORMENY),
Thomas M., Jr., Dorothy and Wm who died at age 5.

Mrs. Thomas M. (Annie E. HILL) HODGSON died Lodi Feb 24 1948 age 64.
obit Annie Elizabeth HODGSON, native of Ben Hur, Mariposa county, was
daughter of pioneer parents of Calaveras and Maripos Counties.
Survived by her husband, Thomas M., and three daughters: Mabel HODGSON, Mrs.
Floyd LECHNER and son, Thomas E.
Grandchildren: Mrs. H. L. EDWARDS, Miss Darlene GATENBY, Willliam E. PALMTAG
and Thomas R. HODGSON. Another grandson, the late Eugene CORMENEY, was
killed in WWII serving with the Army Air Force.

Great gchildren: Thomas, Donald Lee and Jerry Edwards. Her sister is Mrs.
Jane WHITTMAN, Tulare and her aunt is Mrs. Mary IRVINGE, Mokelumne Hill.
