RITES MONDAY FOR E. E. RENFRO, KERN FARMER
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Payne and Sons Funeral home for
Elmer Edmund Renfro, 62, 2412 Renegade Avenue, who died Friday morning at his
home. Elder Vernon C. Scott of the Second Ward, Church of Jesus Christ, Latter
Day Saints will officiate and interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
Born in Compton, Sept. 24, 1904, Mr. Renfro was brought to the Rosedale area
when he was 6. He attended Rosedale Grammar School, now located in Pioneer
Village, and Kern County Union High School. He married Opal Martha Curtis of
Taft and they resided in Rosedale until moving to Bakersfield.
Mr. Renfro was self-employed in farming his entire life. He was a member of
the Native Sons of the golden West, Kern County Farm Bureau, the Rosedale
Grange and the church of Jesus Christ, latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his widow, Opal; a son, Nurl C. and a daughter, Joreen L.
Renfro, both of Bakersfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Linnie Steel of Phoenix,
Ariz., Mrs. Wilmouth Canaday of Bakersfield and Mrs. Ruby Shenk of Laguna
Hills.
Pallbearers will be Jim Stockton, Dave Waddell, George Webster, George
Canaday, William M. Coombs and Lawrence Richina.
