WILSON, Merl Edgar - Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at
Hillcrest Memorial Park, Garden of Memories, for Merl E. Wilson, 67, who
passed away July 13 in Bakersfield. Greater Bakersfield Veterans Association will
officiate. Mr. Wilson was born November 4, 1918 in Strickler, Arkansas and
came to Bakersfield in 1939. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #97 and
was also a life member of Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers. He worked as plant
operator of Getty Oil for 25 years. Served in the United States Army during
World War II. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved his grandchildren. He
is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Harold Wilson of London, England and Bill
Wilson of Bakersfield; daughter, Elaine Wilson of Bakersfield; seven
grandchildren; sisters, Ruby McDonald and Wanda Rieff; brother, Harold Wilson and
father, Charlie Wilson all of Arkansas. Visitation will be held today at 3 p.m.
