During the course of researching and writing a book about long-time Merced
residents and newspaper publishers Rowena Granice STEELE and Robert Johnson
STEELE, I have amassed a great deal of information about other residents of the
County from 1850 to 1900. I have transcribed over 500 pages of newspaper
articles from 1863 to 1900, and I have purchased all three volumes of Tom Hilk's
transcriptions of birth, death, marriage and miscellaneous events from the San
Joaquin Valley Argus. I will be happy to share any information I have about your
families. Let me know names and dates, and I will search my files.
