Hi Tom,
If he died in 1938 you should obtain a copy of his California death certificate. If you know the county (possibly Sacramento?) you can request it through the county (usually the Clerk-Recorder's office). If you are not sure of the county, you will have to request it through the state. That can take a long time - sometimes a year.
I can search the California Death Index at home and that would confirm his death location (assuming he is listed). I am out of town until Friday night.
If you don't receive an answer, please e-mail me again on Friday or Saturday and I'll check.

Hi Pamela
Thanks for the info. I can really use it since I have been in a quandry
for years!
My grandfather Alexander Roderick Robertson supposedly died in a
single car accident around 1938 (a year after I was born), it might have
been later. He was working (I think) for Portland Cement in Sacramento
at the time and living there with my step grandmother Edna. His parents
my ggps are buried in Sunset cemetary in Berkeley. He was a Captain in
the first world war. That's as far as we got before my wife died. I
haven't been able to find where he is buried. Any suggestions? I will
certainly watch the TV programs. thanks again, tom Robertson
