Subject: Word Processing-Use to Organize your Family History
Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2003 22:26:22 -0800

This class is not family history related but the skills you learn can be
used to create family history related documents such as ancestral
time-lines and information databases, or simply for documented and
footnoted histories of an individual ancestor that include photos and
scanned images. Mail-merge skills can be used for family organization
news letters.

I have 2-4 openings only for the following class. If you are interested
please reply asap to 'hold your spot' or be put on the waiting list.

Folsom Cordova Adult Education Presents:

Microsoft Word 2000

A ten week course beginning Thursday 3 April 2003

Location: Mercy Folsom Village 1160 Duchow, Folsom, CA

Instructor: Susan H. Jackman

Learn the basics of word processing in Microsoft Word 2000. This class
covers everything from entering and selecting text to tables and
mail-merge.

Do you have a favorite font with size and color that you use a lot? Did
you know that you can give it a name and store the 'character style' for
ease in future use?

How about creating a template from a 'document style' that you use a
lot---that stores your margins, font type, heading sizes, etc!

Better still, how about a 'macro' to save you time by combining a series
of commands that you use a lot-into a single command. For instance:
'Click insert, Click Picture, Click From File, Select the file, click
insert' saved as a 'macro' means that with the touch of a key on your
keyboard you might add a 'letterhead' or other graphic located on your
hard drive.

Want to learn how to take names in a word table and 'merge' them into a
label or envelope template for mailing purposes? How about how to use
mail merge to create a personalized letter for everyone on your mailing
list? Or how to create a table of information that can be sorted by
name, date, place, or any other heading type!

Examples of other tools covered in the ten week class are: using auto
shapes, inserting and arranging photos, adding a text box, adding color
to your document, adding footnotes, page numbers, headers and footers,
the list goes on and on. Following is the class schedule:
