I've been researching the family of Patrick Garcia (b. 1890, Los Angeles).
Patrick married Eva Moreno (b. 1899, Los Angeles), the daughter of Jesus
Moreno (b. 1851, Mexico) and Visitacion Feliz (b. 1860, Los Angeles), daughter
of Anastacio Feliz (b. 1822, San Diego and died 1884, Los Angeles).
After Eva died in 1918, Patrick and their children began to, or continued to,
live in the home of Eva's mother, Visitacion Feliz Moreno (this according to
the census).
I have recently learned that the Garcias lived in a house at the entrance to
Griffith Park. This would have been in the 1930's and 40's, if not earlier.
So, I'm fumbling in the dark, here. I know that, currently, one enters
Griffith Park at the Riverside Drive and Los Feliz intersection. This is quite
a distance from the area where Rowena and Los Feliz intersect (or nearly
intersect, depending on the map - I was on Los Feliz several years ago and I
thought I remembered that the two streets intersect).
I've searched the internet and books I have and I can't find any sort of
history regarding the entrance, or change of entrances, to the park. Any old
maps I've been able to obtain of Los Angeles, don't include areas this far
north.
Does anyone have any specific history of Griffith Park or can someone recommend
resources more specific than I've been able to find on the internet? Any
suggestions will be gratefully welcomed.
Karla
