Testimonios-Early California through the eyes of
woman-1815-1848.
Has anyone on this list read this book?I have just started it.
The comment on the back of the book by Kevin Starr, professor of
history,University of Southern California;

"Testimonios is a pioneering work of scholarship and critical
interpretation by two of the finest Hispanicists active in early
California studies. It is also a deeply moving act of liberation
in which thirteen woman are called forth from the tomb of
neglected history so that they might at long last speak to us of
their lives and times and the California they helped bring into
being."

The 13 woman listed in the book are,
Isadora Filomena,Rosalia Vallejo,Dorotea Valdez,Maria Antonia
Rodriguez,Teresa de la Guerra,Josefa Carrillo,Catarina
Avila,Eulalie Perez,Juana Machado,Felipa Osuna,Apolinaria
Lorenzana,Augustias de la Guerra,Maria Inocenta Pico.

Is anyone on this list descended from one of these woman? If so
,what do you think of the book?Anything to add to the story of
these woman?I would love to hear about others thoughts on
this!Any additions to the literature on early Spanish California
is something to celebrate, especially the woman as so little is
available.
