Subject: [CAAlameda] Oak Knoll Naval Hospital?
Date: Tue, 13 Aug 2002 11:03:11 -0700
Hi list-
I am looking for info on a Vietnam War soldier (Navy) who did not live in
Alameda, Cty, but who died there.
We think that after he was seriously injured in Vietnam 1969, he was sent
to a Navy hospital in Alameda Cty, where he died soon afterwards.
Members of his Seawolf squadron are trying to find living relatives of the
Seawolves in order to honor him. Our guy is one of only 2 Seawolves
unaccounted for. I did not find an obit-- no surprise with no local
relatives. We will look for a death cert, but would also like to have an
idea where hospital records from 1969 might be found.
I have a recollection that Oak Knoll, now in the process of being sold for
redevelopment, was a Naval Hospital, but I might be wrong.
In any event, since it closed awhile ago, I don't know how to make contact.
Can anyone help?
Thanks-
Nancy
