Jean C. Callison

Mrs. Jean C. Callison passed away on April 16, 2004 in Vacaville following a long illness. Born on March 31, 1927 in Oakland, she was 77 years old.

A resident of Vacaville, she worked as a school-teacher for 42 years, retiring in 1987. She taught at Pleasants Valley School, Elm School and Alamo School. She was a member for 49 years of the Vacaville Chapter 28 Order of the Eastern Star, she was past matron for two years and former deputy grand matron. She was in the retired teacher's association and was an avid cat and animal lover.

She was the granddaughter of William Pleasants, who settled in Pleasants Valley in 1849. She found peace and joy on her trips to Putah Creek. She was honored by having the Jean Callison Elementary School named after her.

She was a 1944 graduate of Winters High School.

Jean is survived by her husband of 57 years, Louis D. Callison; daughters Helen, Nancy and Donna; and sister, Ethel Hoskins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruth Hoskins.

A memorial service for Mrs. Callison will be held on Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. Dave Bunje from the Community United Methodist Church in Fairfield will officiate. Disposition will be private.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Callison's name to the Jean Callison Elementary School
