There was Pacific Mutual Life Ins...they were one of the first companies to put in a computer system in the 50/60s.. They were located in Los Angeles.they almost went "under" during the great depression, but paid back all of the money owed and rebounded from that difficult time for all financial entities.
Another one that I am aware of was the American National Life Insurance located in Galveston Texas. It was started by
the Moody family there around 1900. The family has a foundation that now has much to say about the functions of that multi faceted group of companies now.
There probably were many more...the insurance industry was started in Pennsylvania; the idea was from a great mind, as were many more ideas were developed in the last part of the 1800s. There are probably reference books in the library that could detail more of them. I was married to a salesman who climbed the corporate ladder in that industry. Bonnie
