Ransom Talmadge Rice was the son of Charles Henry Rice and Eva Ransom. Eva was Charles second wife. Ransom and Elaine were born in Solano, California. You can find them on the 1900 Federal Census. Charles was much older than Eva. Charles appears on the 1870 Federal Census, also in Solano, with his first wife Delia, and his older brother Byron Rice. We don't know Charles father's first name yet. His mother's name was Martha Tallmadge. Martha was born in New York in 1797. She was the daughter of Josiah Tallmadge and Margarethe Hofmann (Margaret Hofmann). We know that Martha and her husband moved to Michigan. All their children were born in Michigan. After her husband died, Martha moved to Ohio. She is on the 1860 Federal Census living with her brother Darius Tallmadge. By 1870 most of the family was in California. Martha Rice is on the 1870 Census with her daughter and son in law, Joseph Green and Mary Rice Green. They are Fairfield, Solano County. In 1880 the Gr!
een family's name is spelled Greene. Charles last name is mispelled as Bice. Hope this helps.
