DAWSON - NICHOLS - GOSS - HARMON - JAMISON - LUZANO - LANGFORD -
ADAMS -SPEER/SPEAR - RYAN
In June 1842, Gordon County GA, Jackson NICHOLS married Amanda Melvina
DAWSON. They left GA about 1854 or 1855 with 8 children. The ninth being
born in MO. Jackson was killed by Indians in the Oklahoma Panhandle & Amanda
continued on with her children. She arrived in the Ione/Jackson Valley area
in 1857 where her 10th & last child was born.
Her children were:
Mary NICHOLS b 1843 in GA
Melvin NICHOLS b 1845 in GA m (1)Almeda HARMON (2)Sarah JAMISON
Martha Jane NICHOLS b 1846 in GA m William LANGFORD
Wesley NICHOLS b 1847 in GA m Eliza Jane GOSS b Ione CA
Wyatt NICHOLS b 1849 in GA
Elizabeth NICHOLS b 1850 in GA m James SPEAR/SPEER
William NICHOLS b 1852 in GA m Matilda LUZANO
Eliza Ann NICHOLS b 1853 in GA m Abner ADAMS
John Dow NICHOLS b 1856 in MO m Ida ?
James Jackson NICHOLS b 1858 in CA m Amelia RYAN
All of these marriages took place in Amador County
These families were in the 1860/1870 census for Amador County & possible
connections to the DAWSON/NICHOLS family : (1) J & Mary DAWSON, children
Sarah & William (2) J. WESTFALL & Mary DAWSON WESTFALL, children Alfred &
George WESTFALL, Etta, Adella, Jacob & Lillie DAWSON (3) Exah Etta HARRIS
(who is possibly the Etta Dawson from (2).
Levi GOSS was born in Maine abt 1826 & Mary NULTY/McNULTY in Ireland abt
1832. Levi & Mary were married by 1861 & living in Ione. Levi working at
the Newtonville Copper Mine. Their daughter Eliza Jane GOSS married Wesley
H. NICHOLS above.
Does anyone have information or any connection to any of these families?
