Amador Dispatch, Vol. 12, No. 15, December 24, 1870:
THE CHRISTMAS TREE. -- All necessary preparations have been made for the
Grand Christmas Tree Festival at Armory hall this (Saturday) evening, and we are
requested by the committee having it in charge to say that the distribution of
presents will commence immediately after the ringing of the church bell.

CHEAP GRUB. -- Persons wishing to buy provisions cheap for cash can do so by
calling on CHARLES STECKLER, whose advertisement will be found in another
column.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.
The Central Pacific Railroad company at Sacramento employ a Chinese policeman
to look after the interests of his countrymen.
Judge DWINELLE, at Martinez, has sentenced WILLIAM DONOVAN, convicted of
murder in the first degree, to be hanged on Friday, Feb. 3d, 1871.
JOHN S. BURNETT, one of the proprietors of the stage line from Austin,
Nevada, to Battle Mountain, committed suicide at the former place.

CHRISTMAS EGG NOGG. -- Beat twelve eggs light, whip into them one pound and a
half of white sugar (reserve the whites of 3 eggs for float), pour on this three
quarts of boiling milk; stir till cool; then add one pint of good rum, and a
half pint of brandy or whisky, whip three whites of egg to a float; sweeten a
little & lay on the top.
