Thank you both Sharon and Lori for your information. I'll consult the map and check the proximity to Markleeville, Alpine Co. as that is where my great grandfather was taken from, by the sherriff, to be admitted to the Stockton State Hospital in 1885. My father's maternal grandfather was dead before Dad's birth and he said the family never heard from g-gf again so to finally find him and trace his whereabouts on a map has been exciting.
