RootsWeb Review has just announced CALIFORNIA LAND PATENT RECORDS of the
Bureau of Land Management, at http://userdb.rootsweb.com/landrecords/ .
These are terrific, stating Name, Date, County, Document #, Serial #,
Sale Type, and specific location (Township, Range, Section).
I assume that the people named were the sellers, not the buyers, of the
properties.
One sale type is called "Military Scrip Warrant Patent." What does this
mean? How did the person receive such a patent?
Thank you.
Alexandra
