Mary Kimmons, teacher, Mar. 2, 1902 - Jan. 1, 1999
Mary S. Kimmons, a resident of Paradise since 1956, died Friday, Jan. 1,
while visiting in Sacramento. She was 96.
Mrs. Kimmons was born March 2, 1902 in Shickshinny, Penn. to Edwin and
Eliza Stackhouse.
After she graduated from Bloomsberg High School in Pennsylvania, she attended
the local teachers' college for a year before entering Goucher College
in Baltimore, Md. She graduated from there in 1924.
After graduation, she taughter English at Bloomsberg High School and also
at Amityville High School in Long Island, N.Y.
Mrs. Kimmons married her husband, Richard, of Hereford, Tex. in 1940. He
preceded her in death in 1962.
Mrs. Kimmons had traveled extensively over the years having visited every
continent.
When she would return home from one of her trips abroad, she would take
off in her camper to explore the United States and Canada.
She is survived by two nieces, Nancy Morgan of Ithaca, N.Y., and Cathy
Maxam of Eliot, Maine; two grandnieces and two grandnephews.
Memorial contributions may be given to the First Church of Christ Scientist,
6970 Clark Road, Paradise.
No services are planned and inurnment will be at the Pine Hill Cemetery
in Shickshinny, Penn. Rose Chapel is handling arrangements.
