If you have the inscriptions for Clear Creek, I wonder if
you would be kind enough to check for Monoah PENCE (for whom
the town of Pentz was [ms]named) and his wife and children.
Thanks so much.

Sorry, Richard, the only one is Pentz, Court Gaylord, b. 31 Jan 1964,
d. 23 Aug 1995. However, if he is a relative, you might ask
one of the NORCAL volunteers to pull out his obituary. Could
just answer a few of your questions.
Since Chico is the largest city/town around, you might try
the two local cemeteries. Let me see if I can find those
addresses.
Here is the address of the Chico Cemetery:
881 Mangrove Ave., Chico, CA 95926,
and the phone number:
(530) 345-7342.
Paul is the one that you want to talk to. He keeps track of all the records.
He is also friends with Larry Richardson, the fellow who
kept those records all those years before the office went
to computers.
I grew up in Chico, and the Chico Cemetery was on the Other
Side of the Creek. Now it is practically in the middle of town.
So I keep forgetting that there is another NEW cemetery
in Chico, one at the South end of town. Well, anyway, here
is the address of the other one. However, it is the newest
one and probably would not have any one that early.
Perhaps someone should check on the exact date they
did open up. It would help in the search.

My other suggestion would be for you to contact the
Paradise Genealogical Society, organized in 1968. It has been
incorporated as a nonprofit organization. They are not sponsored
by any other group, and they are the only Genealogical Society
currently active in Butte County, California.
The library is located at 5587 Scottwood Road in Paradise, California.
Their mailing address is PO Box 460, Paradise, CA 95967-0460.
Their library has a fine collection of books, periodicals and CDs.
Their research, however, is done for Butte County, California, only.
They also have the complete collection of the FamilyTree Maker
CDs. And one of these days I plan on spending a complete
day or two up there, just finding things.
Check their Web Site at http://www.jps.net/pargenso/ for details.
Because you asked and I answered in some detail, I am going to
add this to the CABUTTE-L mailing list. Perhaps someone else
could use this information.
And isn't the Rootsweb PMLBounce just lovely? I have found more
cousins that way.
Cheers,
Dona
