My great grandfather JOHN ANTHONY CRUIKSHANK is reported in the family Bible to have been born in Oak Springs on 3 9 1872. The understanding in the family was that he was born in California, and I found a note that It may have been in Contra Costa Co., possibly near Brentwood.

I have found an Oak Springs ghosttown in New Mexico, but none in California. Anybody know where it is?
