Hi,
Did you ask the Live Oak Cemetery to look in their old records
to find the grave and plot number. I used to work at a cemetery the old
records are kept, it doesn't matter if there is a head stone or not. In
a potter's field situation (a section of the cemetery for those without
money) they may not know the grave number, but they would know the plot.

Subject: [CAContraCosta] Hockaday - burial
I am new to this list. My grandfather, Sidney Hockaday, was killed near
Walnut Creek. He was hit by car. He died on May 8, 1938. I have a copy
of his
death certificate and it says he was buried in Clayton, CA. I have
checked with
the cemetery there and there is no headstone because he was a transient.
He
had military identification on him and the Canadian Royal Legion was
notified
of his death. The funeral home was Guy Funeral Home and the signature
on the
certificate says Forrest W. Tussell. I am trying to locate the plot
number
where he is buried. The cemetery is Live Oak Cemetery in Clayton. Does
anyone
know where I might find the old records of this funeral home? I would
like to
know exactly where my grandfather is buried.
Thank for any help you can give me.
Sincerely,
Claudia Hockaday Fournier
