Hi Claudia,

Just because it was the only cemetery in existence in
Clayton at that time, does not mean that is where he was buried there,
but you never know.

Contact the Clayton Historical Society? They might have
some ideas, there could have been another cemetery or they might
possible have the old records of the funeral home if it went out of
business. www.claytonhs.com/

You never know, good luck with your research.

Donna

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your input. I did check with Live Oak Cemetery and they don't
have any records about my grandfather being buried there. We deducted
that it has to be that cemetery because it was the only one in existence
at that point in time. I did go to the cemetery and was so disappointed
that I couldn't find his grave. There is a large section by the fence
that was set aside for indigent burials but the markers were all gone.
The cemetery had been vandalized and the Live Oak Cemetery Association
has been trying to clean it up and restore the gravestones that were
knocked over or destroyed. I was hoping to find out where the old
funeral home records are kept and that might tell me which grave he is
in. My Dad would like to put a headstone on his grave if we ever locate
it.

Any help at all is much appreciated.

Sincerely, Claudia
