Message Board Post:

Eli Brewen married Caroline Davis in Jackson Co., Missouri, Dec. 02, 1849.
They must have gone to California before 1860, because their 3rd child was born in California in 1855.
As far as I can find out, they had 8 children.

I don't know his date of death, but, I "THINK" he was still alive in 1888. His wife, Caroline Davis Brewen, survived the sinking of the "City of Chester" in San Francisco Bay. And, I just received an article about it which lists among the passengers, F. (?) Brewon, and Mrs. C. Brewon, so I am guessing it was Eli. I know it was Caroline Davis Brewen, because I have a copy of a newpaper article with her brother, Solomon P. Davis' comments.
My question concerns someone else on the ship....Birdie Brewen and her daughter Josie Brewen (they were listed as Brewer in the article), but Solomon P. Davis talked about "looking back and seeing his brother, Columbus T. Davis, and his niece, Josie Brewen, on the deck, looking as though they were going to jump into the water. (they both died)
So, I would be interested in the brothers of Eli Brewen, and who they married, and their families.
