In 1860 one of my ancestors is listed in the Crescent Twp. census where he was living on a farm along with four other men born in Ireland, PA, VA, MO and OH. I'm interested to know what might have lured these men from such diverse and distant locations to Crescent Township.

These men were: David McNUTT, 29, b. Ireland; Felix SCOTT, 30, b. VA; Thomas LAWSON, 30, b. PA (Thomas belongs to my line); Francis MOUNT, 19, b. MO; John WATSON, 28, b. OH.
