Hi Tom
Our Cagle's did move to Illinois, Jacob Elias and wife Lucy moved there,
with his children, and other Cagle. There were German Immigrants from
Germany also .

Notes on John L. Cagle probably was closer to 60* rather than 80. In 1850
Christian Co., had been listed as age 53, then in 1870, was listed as only
60. Exact birthdate is unknown : maybe 1790s.
John L. was a brother of David Cagle , they deceased husband of Susan Cagill,
above. Their father was Jacob Cale , 1770-1836, a native of North Carolina,
who moved with his father John Cagle Sr., ca 1740s 1826, from Cabarrus co, NC
to Davidson Co. TN about 1800 . After old John's death, Jacob moved to
Illinois, appearing in the 1830 cenus of Sangamon Co. (living in that part of
old Sangamon which later became Christian County,) In 19=830 Jacob moved to
Barry County, Mo.
(Present JasperCo. Mo) where he died in 1836. His Will was filed in barry Co.
and an abstract reads as follows:

Abstract of Jaob Cagle's Will

"Cagle, Jacob. Will dated 26, JUne 1836. Recorded 5 July 1836."

"Wife Lucy Cagle. Farm to be sold and money divided among children: Lucretia,
Martin, Elizabeth, Martha , John L. , David, Jacob Elias, Drucilla &
Katharine. Executors: Wm Southward & Geo. Damron. Whitnesses: Samueil Leas,
Wm. Hughes & John Hughes." Will Book A, page 14.

The sons of Jacob Cagle can be traced as follows:

Martin G. Moved to Lafayette County, Ark by 1840; Lamar co. TX by 1850;
see also 1860: McLennan Co., Tx by 1870.

It is believed that Jacob, 1770s-1836, was the brother of Leonard Cagle,
1780-1845, who moved to Allen Co., KY to Jasper Co., MO in the 1840s, and
became the ancestor of the large Cagle, group of Jasper & Lawrence Cos, MO.
Jacob also had several minor children when he died in 1836 (the children of
Lucy, who was his 2nd wife); see Matthew J. J> & Robert C.F. Cagle, 1860
Dickson, TX.

Notes: Daavid Cagle, 31 born in Wisc, was the son of Jacob Elias who
migrated from IL to Wisconsin in the 1830s. Jacob Elias was brother of the
older david Cagle, born ca1800, of 1850 Chridtian Co., IL, whose widow Susan
is listed above. Jacob Elias was in Lafayette Co., WI in 1850, then moved to
LA and TX. His son David, however, remained in the North, being enumerated in
1870 Christian, IL, above, and then in Lewis & Clark co, Montana in 1880.
