This is what little I have on MAHALA CAGLE & JAMES BURNS of Transylvania Co.
NC. I am interested in this family because of the strong possibility that she
was a sister - or other close relative - to my ancestor, LEONARD CAGLE
(1798-1866) from the same area. Any help or advise welcomed regarding
ancestry of Leonard Cagle.

Mahala Cagle, b 5/31/1798 and d 6/10/1881; Married:
James A. Burns, b 12/12/1800 and d 12/17/1880
(dates from headstones; Rock Hill Baptist, Cedar Mtn. NC

1) Newton Marshall Burns, b 6/20/1829, d 12/11/1911; M Caroline Shipman
2) Alexander P. Burns, b abt 1831, M Elizabeth Jones
3) Street Burns, b 10/31/1832, d 10/6/1922; M Amanda Summey
4) Thomas Burns, b abt 1833
5) James Burns, Jr., b abt 1835
6) Mary Burns, b 11/22/1838, d 11/4/1918; M Benjamin Kilpatrick
7) Martha Burns, b abt 1839, d 5/19/1924; M Andrew Jackson Smith
8) Juliet Burns, b 7/18/8140, d 4/29/1922; M Ira D. Potts
9) Sarah Elizabeth Burns, b 8/4/1842, d 1/7/1901; M Jackson Summerville Heath

I believe there were three or four other children not listed. Do you know how
Mahala and Leonard Cagle were related?

<< Hi group: I was wondering if anyone has this man in there family group. I
have looked in both family tree's and could not find her. This is the only
thing I found
on the Burns, Jacob Cagle 1770 1st marriage who we have as unknown they had
a
Martha who would have been around the right time, and Jacob's second wife
Lucy Darrough remarried after the death of Jacob to Elida Burns and they had
a son named James T. Burns born 1840?? What do you think.

Trying to obtain information on Mahala CAGLE b. 1799/1800 probably in
Transylvania County, NC (the NC/SC line was in dispute then).  She married
James Burns and had nine children, one of whom was Sarah Elizabeth from whom
I am descended.  Do you have any information about her in your notes?  Would
be grateful beyond belief!

Regards,
Richard
