From the Humboldt Times newspaper, Saturday, 2 April 1921:
"Mrs. Annie Gow, who resides at 1423 Eleventh Street and who caused the
arrest of Roy Epps, a neighbor, for maintaining a public nuisance
because a cow he has parked next door bellow at night. said yesterday
that th city health officers had not inspected conditions there, despite
her protests and she was forced to take the matter up with the district
attorney.
Mrs. Gow said that since she had started action against Epps he has
cleaned out the barn, but has not stopped the cow from talking in its
sleep. She also claims that she has not used the barn the cow is kept in
for a woodshed, as she has one of her own."
