MARY ELLEN 'ELLE'
JENNINGS

Mary Ellen "Ella" Jennings, 84, lifelong resident of southern Humboldt, died Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Kryla in Eureka, after a long illness.

She was born April 1, 1871, at Old Fort Humboldt and she was the last of the children of Sarah and Ephriem Goble, early Humboldt pioneers. They first settled near Ferndale. She lived most of her life in Fortuna. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Fortuna; Veteran's Auxiliary; Fort Townsend Club and Sewing Club.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ethel Duckett of Fortuna; Edward Jennings of Eureka; Mrs. Evelyn Kryla of Eureka; Mrs. Eva Heberling of Castro Valley; Everett Jennings of Sausalito; 10 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary Wednesday evening at 8:30. Following brief services at the mortuary Thursday at 9:30 a.m., mass will be offered in St. Joseph's church, Fortuna, commencing at 10 with Rev. Father M. Manogue officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Rohnerville cemetery.
